Knight Stone Paving

Knight Stone Paving is a family business and are Kent-based, third-generation specialists in the pre-case concrete industry. Having started as a business selling a range of concrete ornaments during COVID, Paul and Fran decided to focus on offering paving slabs, and as a result, wanted to update their website to reflect their new direction.

Project Goals

The goal was for the website to stand out in the paving industry against competitors and showcase the various patio sets offered, along with the colours and textures available for each patio set.

Design Approach

The original Knight Stone website had a loose minimalistic theme using black, whites and greys on their Wordpress website. This is a colour palette I love to work with and Paul was happy to continue using these colours. I was able to give a really professional feel to the new Knight Stone Paving website, overriding Squarespace’s “blocky” feel and manipulate the blocks to looks like pages are made up on a single section, starting from the bottom of each hero banner.

Key Features

There are a handful of features I’ve added to this site that I’m proud of, notably:

• Patio colour hover effect: Using JavaScript, I was able to create an effect where users could hover over the “Colour available” section on a patio set page and see the colour applied to a template of the patio.

• Motion Video: On the About page, I added graphic overlaying a video of the mixing machine running in the background. This gives a great visual effect to anyone viewing the page.

• Mobile Optimisation: Recognizing the importance of a mobile-friendly design, the site was built to be fully responsive, ensuring a smooth experience on all devices.

The Outcome

The final design was a minimalist look and feel that exudes professionalism. It’s a standout website in the paving industry and a design I’m very proud of and have been excited to share this with everyone.
