How to Update Your Billing Details in Squarespace
Hello, everyone! I’m back with another blog post sharing with you the latest tips, tricks, workarounds, and new features in Squarespace.
No matter how much you use Squarespace, there’s one task you’ll need to do every couple of years—updating your credit or debit card information. You’ll have to do this every time you replace your payment card, because you have either lost it, or the card has expired and your bank has sent you a new one. In the guide below, I’ll show you exactly how to update this information within Squarespace:
Step-by-Step Guide to Updating Your Payment Information
1. Log in to Squarespace
First, log in to your Squarespace account and head to the backend of your website.
2. Access the Settings Menu
Access the site settings by clicking on the cog icon.
On the bottom-left side of the screen, you’ll see the menu. Click on Settings to access your account settings.
3. Go to Billing
Once in the settings menu, look for Billing.
This what searching using the forward slash command looks like. You can select “BILLING” from the search results.
Quick Tip: Since Squarespace often changes its menu layout, you can use the keyboard shortcut forward slash (/) to bring up a search box. Just type *billing* to quickly navigate to the right page.
4. Select Payment Information
Once you’re in the billing section, click on Payment Information.
If your site is already live and running, your previous billing details will likely be displayed. Whether you’re updating your existing information or entering new details, this is where it all happens.
5. Update Your Billing Address
Edit your billing address and payment methods here. These fields will already be populated if your site is live.
Start by clicking Edit under the billing address. Enter your updated address information here. If you’re registered for VAT, don’t forget to tick the box and enter your VAT number before saving your address.
6. Update Your Payment Method
You have two options for updating your payment method:
- PayPal: Click PayPal and log in to your PayPal account to link it to your Squarespace billing.
Note, this can be a great option because once you update your card details on PayPal, after receiving a new card, you will not have to update it again on Squarespace.
- Credit or Debit Card: The most common method. Simply enter your name, card number, expiration date, and the three-digit security code on the back of the card. Once done, hit Save.
Why This Is Important
By updating your payment details, you ensure that there will be no interruptions when your subscription is due for renewal. Your website will remain live, and the subscription will automatically renew without any issues.
Final Thoughts
That’s all you need to do to update your payment details in Squarespace! It’s a simple process, but an important one to keep your website running smoothly.
