Whites Constuction Management

Whites Construction Management, founded by Bobby White in 2018, is a construction management company that has worked on some of the largest construction projects in the South East.

Whites Construction Management already had a website using Godaddy website builder, but it didn’t do anything except merely exist.

Project Goals

The goal for the project was to create a sleek design that showcased the extensive services offered by Whites Construction Management, as well as demonstrating some of the larger projects within a portfolio section.

Design Approach

I decided to use a nice, deep blue which conveys trust, throughout the site as the accent colour, which works beautifully with the white page backgrounds and the light grey as an alternative. Each service page was broken down into an easy-to-read tile format, so the user isn’t overwhelmed with a wall of text on every service page.

Key Features

WCM’s website includes several key features designed to enhance user experience and functionality:

• Video Banner: Using a video banner on the Homepage, I was able to engage users by finding a stock video that draws the user into the banner as it runs down the street.

• Hamburger Menu: One neat feature that was requested in the discovery phase was that I should implement a hamburger menu on the desktop version of the site, as well as mobile. This was achieved using CSS code and I also added a smart background image to the menu when it opens, something that’s not possible natively in Squarespace.

• Hover Effects: On the Homepage, the greyed-out sections you see under “Our Services” have a neat hover effect. They will pulse slightly and the colour will return. This was done using only CSS.

• Portfolio Section: I created a nice portfolio section to showcase WCM’s largest projects. Presented with a grid, the user can click on a project to read more about it and see further images.

• Mobile Optimisation: Recognising the importance of a mobile-friendly design, the site was built to be fully responsive, ensuring a smooth experience on all devices.

The Outcome

The final result is a professional website that WCM can be proud of and share with potential clients to demonstrate their expertise and the services they can offer.
